I say currently because my inspiration is like the weather. Constantly changing. As we evolve, and as do the objects of our inspiration, our style icons must change. If you were to ask eleven-year-old me, I would’ve probably told you my style icons were Zuri Ross (Jessie) and the twins from The Parent Trap… although now that I think of it, the latter is still a huge inspiration. Anyways, I’m here to tell you who has made it to “style inspo” status in my book, and why:
Formerly known on Instagram as Man Repeller, Medine Cohen’s style truly lives up to her ancient name. She literally does not care what people think of her and it’s why I love her so much. She fearlessly mixes patterns, and textures, and can go from leaving her NYC apartment in her underwear to walking out in the chunkiest sweater ever knitted. She walks through cereal aisles in heels most of us would wear on a night out, and looks cool doing it:
How do I say this… Spanish model Blanca Soler’s feed breathes life into me and I wish I was kidding. As someone who painfully tries to plan out her feed only to hate it three posts later, I admire the work put into her Instagram. She’s so unbothered, and would just as soon post a selfie with her mother than an editorial shoot. I find inspiration in her model-off-duty style, but more so in her brand. She’s more than outfits, she’s the lifestyle, and she’s the Pinterest It Girl.
Whoever has styled Jacob Elordi as of late seriously needs a raise. Even if you favor a more feminine style, inspiration can be drawn from anyone, anywhere. Elordi has not only taught me that I won’t settle for anything less than a 6’4” tall man (I’m delusional) but also the power of accessorizing; some funky sunglasses never go unnoticed. Similar to Leandra Medine Cohen, he’s unafraid to wear new things, uncaring of what people may think of him. Not every guy has the guts to wear a handbag or colorful clothing, and I respect that.
Anyways, those are my current fashion icons. I assure you, they’ll be different next week.
Love ya,
