The Adventures of Retail Therapy

I’m sixteen. Do you know what that means? Evil forces come together to form the SATs. After stu(dying) for months, the dreaded day, March 11th, was finally less than twelve hours away. So what’s the one thing I decide to do in order to calm my nerves? Spend money.

I know it is far from the best coping mechanism, but I find that a good hour of retail therapy does wonders. Really, you should try it sometime. I do not recommend though, checking your bank statement later that month. You have been warned.

With that out of the way, I thought I would show you what I bought during my latest shopping adventures. Shall we?

The first stop was Urban Outfitters, my favorite place for overpriced, washed-out, mass-produced, “vintage” pieces.

#1 A swimsuit cover-up (the most practical at the moment since spring break is just around the corner).

#2 With a button up and live out my: Matilda Djerf, Swedish summer dreams.

#3 With a baby tee (or band tee) and boots, living out my messy girl, errand run dreams.

Now, I don’t have a justifiable reason as to why I bought this other than I liked it. I don’t really know how I’m gonna wear it, I just know that it's really cool and it will add a pop of color to my closet. Something I am desperately in search of.

Tip from a pro, when entering Urban Outfitters, never buy something at full price before checking the sale section. Never! Actually, that goes for any store…

Anyways, I found this beauty there for like $30, a tempting offer after seeing an identical one at

Danielle Guizio NY for $298. No hate towards Danielle, I just don’t see myself spending three hundred dollars for some sequins. So, I got it (even though I hate that half of Pinterest and TikTok already have it) and I’m going to style it with a white tank top + silver heels, and call it a day!

  • Finally, the Paula Metal Oval Sunglasses. I can’t go to UO and not buy sunglasses, it's quite a problem actually. This time around, I purchased these silver girls.

They are not practical in any way shape or form, they’ll get scorching hot in the sun and rust at the beach but… looks over practicality I guess?

I then took the escalator to another ridiculously overpriced store with washed-out boho (yet mass-produced) clothes. The forever favorite, Free People. I truly have no excuse as to how I spent around $100 on two tank tops, but I am not here to be judged, so swallow any comments. (And yes, I do realize I'm contradicting myself since I said I wouldn't spend $300 on a skirt)

  • The Kate Tee in Bleached Mauve. I am obsessed with this color for spring and summer, again, it's a great addition to my neutral-ruled closet. A good tank top is a necessity, and this style from FP doesn’t disappoint. Not to mention, it's totally in the Pantone NYFW S/S 23 palette.

  • The Care FP Linen Blend BF Tee. It’s the perfect amount of worn-out to complete a boho look or recreate a Kate Moss outfit. Besides, I was desperate for a new white t-shirt, seeing as I used up mine for a white lie party.

  • And finally, the rock star approved Schools Out Body Chain. To say I’m obsessed is an understatement, it adds the right amount of rebelliousness to just about any outfit. Either by itself or with a tank or t-shirt.

I am only including the pieces I bought on March 10th, not those I bought… the weeks prior. It was a stressful month, ok?

P.S. I make my own money

Love,
