R.E.P.O.R.T.

Hey there readers, it's been a while. Did you miss me?

I feel like creating something new after not writing for a while, so welcome to my monthly: R.E.P.O.R.T.

Reading

My cousin coerced me into starting Sarah J Maas's Throne of Glass Series, and I couldn't be happier that she did. The epic fantasy got me out of my reading slump, so much so that I've read six of the nine books in the series in the past 19 days (books that are not short by any means).

The story follows an infamous assassin, who happens to be an eighteen-year-old girl who loves candy and shopping, while she undergoes countless trials to save her kingdom. While it's undeniably a fantasy, I find the protagonist deeply relatable and the plot absolutely enthralling.

(Also, shoutout to my Kindle for providing the means to my newfound addiction.)

Eating

I recently learned how to make Eggs Benedict after craving the brunch dish at home. Although I was thoroughly intimidated by the idea of making the egg and lemon hollandaise sauce, for better or for worse, I discovered it's quite easy to make. Does it require like, an entire stick of butter? Basically. Will it clog your arteries? Most likely, but you’ll die happy.

For those of you content with heart disease, here's the recipe for a single serving:

  • In a small pot, whisk 1 egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of water and 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice, off the heat until frothy.

  • Add four tablespoons of butter (cold and cut into small chunks) into the mixture.

  • Whisk on medium-high heat until thick (it will get frothier before it gets thicker)

  • Remove from the heat and season with a little salt and cayenne pepper.

Playing

Without a better explanation, this song feels like a Barbie movie. It feels like growing up, like entering a new era, although that might just be because I listened to it on repeat while visiting universities this month. Still, it’s a song that makes me dance on my own, and there are few feelings as amazing as that.

Obsessing Over

If I’m being completely honest, university. Although I dare you to find a single Senior who isn’t obsessing over where they’ll spend the next four years during April, for me, it’s Boston these next four!

Recommending

This month has been full of traveling, so my recommendation is Béis Luggage.

For my fifteenth birthday, my parents got me the Large Check-In Roller in Black, and since then I’ve just added to my collection with their Weekender Bag and Toiletry Bags. Not only does having a matching set of luggage heal something in me, but there isn’t a single thing I don’t love about this bag. It’s extremely lightweight, durable, has every pocket I could dream of, and even has a built-in lock and weight limit indicator! It’s insane, I’d recommend them to anyone.

Treating Myself To

Too much shopping. In my defense, there are way too many activities this month to shop for! We have beach trips, senior activities, summer vacation, senior trip, AND I have to start building a cold-weather college wardrobe? It’s a lot, my closet is genuinely about to explode, and I’m dreading the day it does… I might do a haul soon though, I’ll let you know.

Anyways, that was my weekly R.E.P.O.R.T., I’ll see you next week ;)

Love,

a REPORTER
