I get it, Miranda Priestley. Wearing florals during spring is far from novel, but here are all the ways I like to wear florals without actually wearing florals. Keep reading for my unique take on flower power:
Flower cuffs
I think these may be some of my favorite Not Enough San Juan pieces like, ever, and that is saying a LOT. They’re adjustable to any wrist size and are great for holding shirts and sweaters in place. Not only that, but they make any outfit just that much cooler, dancing the line between whimsical and edgy. So, my first weapon of choice to combat the War of Basic.
Flower brooches
Well, wearing a literal flower is technically not a floral pattern! These past months, I’ve pulled a Carrie Bradshaw and have become obsessed with flower brooches. I have this black one from Zara which functions both as a choker and a belt (and I adore it). While there’s another which is far dearer to me, as it was a gift from Jean Cintrón following my second internship with the hyper-talented designer. This one, I like to add to my pockets or any boring neckline.
Floral appliques
While they’re not floral patterns per se, they’re kind of like the upgrade to a simple floral pattern. I have two skirts with floral appliqués that I simply adore: this sheer purple one from Anthropologie, and this mini white one from Zara.
Regardless, Miranda Priestly is right: florals during spring are anything but groundbreaking. But perhaps with these tips, you’ll manage to create some cracks on the floor beneath.
Love,
a fashion florist
