Dear hopeless romantics,
I'm here to tell you, everyone's been doing Valentine's wrong. You have one valentine? Honey, I have twenty (at least).
Here's the thing, I've been in all-girl schools my entire life. Like everything, it has its pros and cons. I wouldn't know what those are since I haven't had the lovely experience of being surrounded by testosterone seven hours a day. Nevertheless, the absence of the Y chromosome has never prevented my friends and me from celebrating V Day. We give each other cards, chocolates, balloons, and unwavering love every year. With friends like that, who needs a guy?
Well, here's how my girls and I celebrated this year:
I spent Friday night with Valentine #1, binge-watching the Hunger Games. It's not necessarily the most romantic of movies, but it gets the job done... #TeamPeeta. A good movie marathon is a marvelous way to kick off any Valentine's weekend, here are some of my suggestions:
Pride and Prejudice [2005]: For anyone who appreciates pretty hands (if you know, you know).
Princess Diaries [2001]: For anyone craving nostalgia, and willing to cry about how far Anne Hathaway has come.
The Other Woman [2014]: For those who want to watch the funniest, most underrated Cameron Diaz, Kate Upton, and Leslie Mann movie of all time.
Crazy Rich Asians [2018]: For all who daydream of a $30 million wedding in Singapore.
10 Things I Hate About You [1999]: For all of us who don't fantasize about a knight in shining armor (just one who'll buy us guitars).
Saturday was well-spent with Valentine's #2 and #3. Valentine numero dos graciously hosted Galentines, filled with heart-shaped pizza, cake, and ABBA. That's right, add Mamma Mia [2008] to the list above.
I wore this gorgeous For Love and Lemons dress that I found on The Real Real. And let's make things clear, I will not tolerate any T.R.R. slander here! It's a curated, online, luxury thrift shop, what's not to love? I paired it with my Louis Vuitton Papillon 27 and black Adidas sambas:
Meanwhile, Super Bowl Sunday was spent (you guessed it) watching more movies, this time with Valentine's 4-7. My mom, aunt, grandma, great aunt, and I went to the movies and topped it off with Chocolate Almond ice cream from Baskin Robins (The best flavor, don’t argue with me on this).
For my outfit, I decided to go with “Chic Parisian meets Free People”. My off-shoulder, ribbon detail sweater, in cohesion with my shoulder bag, red sandals, and messy updo make up the Parisian part of the look. While my low-waisted black shorts and lack of a bra make up the boho part.
I'll keep relishing in the love this Tuesday, February 14th, with Valentine's 8-20. Anyways, I guess the lesson I wanted to teach you is: don't settle for less (ever!), twenty Valentines are better than one.
Well, I guess I'll pop the big question now...
Will you be my Valentine?
