It’s that time of year again.
Even though Halloween is an annual event, it always manages to sneak up on us, doesn’t it? One day, the temperature just started to get cooler, and the next “Boo!” you’re scared out of your wits by your lack of a costume. Not to fear, it’s time to open your closet (don’t mind the skeletons) and dust the cobwebs off your potential Halloween look.
Saltburn
This hedonistic movie is practically a Halloween Pinterest Board. Find a white tuxedo and antlers, or a simple white tank top and denim skirt outfitted with gold angel wings.
La Llorona
A black dress, veil, and runny mascara will do for this iconic and terrifying Latin legend.
Zoo Break
This is probably the easiest group costume you’ll find. Pull out all the animal print you purchased this year, paint on some animal makeup, and orchestrate your own Zoo Break.
Fallen Angel
The devil and angel costumes are just so basic, no? I offer you the perfect in-between, a harrowing plummet from heaven towards hell: the fallen angel. Some angel wings and runny mascara will complete this simple, and unique look.
Marie Antoinette (After the Guillotine)
Every year, millions of Marie Antoinettes run rampant during this night, but nearly none of them depict her after the events of the French Revolution. Inspired by this year’s Olympic Opening Ceremony, add a trail of blood to your neck and accentuate it with pearls.
Wind-Up Doll
I’ve been obsessed with the idea of doll costumes ever since Maison Margiela’s porcelain doll show this Spring. You can go ahead and complete the cracked doll makeup that’s taken over TikTok, add a piece of faux hardware to your outfit, and portray a seemingly innocent (possibly evil) wind-up doll.
Midsommar Victim
To recreate horror movie personas is a quintessential part of Halloween, but I’m not particularly eager to impersonate any character, instead letting my imagination run free and create my own. Therefore, I suggest you dress as one of the many generic victims of the truly disturbing Midsommar film. Grab a white dress, some flowers, and your best fake blood.
Those are my costume suggestions for this year but feel free to DM me if you’d like some more. If you haven’t guessed by now, this with loves a good Halloween costume… see you next year (or else).
Love,
A creepy crawly creature
