The title explains the gist of it, here's a weekend in the life of a sixteen-year-old girl during summer:
Truthfully, going out on Fridays is tremendously overrated. I usually get up at 6 in the morning on Fridays, so why would I want to stay up late too? While I make some exceptions for the last day of the work week, going out on Saturdays is much more my style. So, I spent my Friday in a far more enjoyable manner.
After attending the Kindergarten graduation of the family princess, I stumbled down to my aunt’s house on a mission: to raid my cousin's closet. You see, she has magnificent pieces which happen to be my size, and seeing as I'll soon encounter the whirlwind of events that make up Senior year, I desperately need such pieces. Overall, the raid was very much successful:
See! The perks of having a stylish family. I could not find pieces like this anywhere else, seeing as #1: some of them are custom made; and #2: they are “vintage” (6 or 7 years old).
I finished the day off at the mall, purchasing the final additions to my travel wardrobe. I went to bed early, preparing for the day ahead.
I had to prepare for an event 40 minutes away, so the day began at 7 am. On the car ride there, emails were sent and projects were perfected. Just as I closed my laptop, my internship at Jean Cintrón began. For those of you who don’t know (and I hope you do), Jean Cintrón is a hyper-talented Puerto Rican designer with a passion for perfectly curated aesthetics. His work dresses the Caribbean elite, and I was one of the seven girls chosen to learn from him firsthand, at his Bridal Experience in Cayey.
I have long been a fan of his, seeing as this feathered number for my junior proms is one of his earlier designs, along with these gorgeous pants and shorts I’ll be wearing later during the week.
We prepped, prepped, and prepped some more, ending the day a bit earlier than six. I was dead on my feet and got a great sleep before Sunday, the busiest day of the weekend. This day began earlier than the previous, at 6 am, arriving at Casamerica in Cayey at 9 am. The finishing touches were made, and event outfits were put on.
I was in charge of the guest list from 1 pm to 6, meaning I was the first to witness the outfits of the ton. Some of them I loved, others well... not so much. But that's not the point! I got to work on my people skills and even managed to sneak into IN Puerto Rico Magazine. Overall, I had an amazing time and it was a beautiful experience. The dresses were breathtaking, and my fellow interns were lovely!
As it turns out, wearing heels the entire day drains the life out of you. But that's nothing two shots of espresso and grilled cheese at 8 pm can’t fix. The coffee was not a want, but a need, since the night was just getting started. I put on this custom-made dress and made my way to Brava for a Class of 2024 party. Did I wear heels again? Yes. Do I regret it? Oh, abso-fucking-lutely.
We had a good time, admittedly not great, but I can’t have a bad time if I look good.
The weekend ended on Monday, and though it was packed, I can only hope for more days like these.
Love,
A very busy girl
